Project Overview: Our client approached us with the development of a global positioning system promoting personal networking, seminars, panels, workshops, events and knowledge sharing on mobile platform. A Location Based search application offers collaboration of knowledge sharing with education, containing content relevant to the LBS community. The concept was to build an application where users may create new locations and mark when they visit the location while the new locations are published on the server that is shown on the user’s handset.
Primary Objectives: The application development process was started with the following objectives:
- Design and develop an application with registration form being published on the server
- Design an application enabling flexibility for the users to register and publish the event
- Application with embedded Google maps
- Wiki like approach for search based on location, date, venue etc.
Solution: After understanding our clients needs and requirements, we came up with an application envisioning all the objectives mentioned above. The LBS application designed by us is capable of providing real time data through different kinds of positioning methods. With a wide range of features available, the application offers the client a scalable, secure and manageable application for deploying their location-based services.

Server-side: PHP, MySQL and XML
Client-side: iPhone OS version 3.0, Objective C
Features: The application features the following:
- City guides for user defined areas
- Search based on location attributes such as by region, by city and even by date
- Registration on the server enabling the users to publish the upcoming events
- User flexibility to modify the content and publish the desired one
- Google map embedded for events and activities mapping
- Client can also apply charges as per event registration or event view
